Image of Uranus Uranus, the seventh planet from the Sun, is another gaseous planet.  Its atmosphere consists of hydrogen, helium, and methane.  It is the methane that gives Uranus its blue-green color.

Uranus rotates unusually. First, like Venus, it rotates backwards. Next, the axis around which Uranus spins is almost horizontal.  So, Uranus kind of rolls on its side as it revolves around the Sun. This produces very unusual seasons.  Uranus also has a faint ring system.

Question:

1.On the Earth, each season lasts for about 3 months.  How long should one season last on Uranus?

2. What gives Uranus its blue-green color?
