For Students Entering LMS Grade 7 |
Reading makes immigrants of us all.
It takes us away from home, but more important,
It finds homes for us everywhere.
Hazel Rochman-
Dear Incoming LMS 7th Grader:
Welcome to 7th grade! Before we
begin another school year this September, we are strongly
encouraging you to choose a book from the following list to read
during the summer months. All of the books included on this list
share the common themes of Immigration and Assimilation. We will be
studying these themes in both Language Arts and Social Studies this
year. It is our objective to help you build your understanding and
background knowledge on this subject through a good book. In
October, all 7th graders will participate in a book chat
with fellow students and teachers to discuss the books.
Reading is an important skill that students can
and should practice throughout the summer. If there is more than one
book on the list that appeals to you, read them both or all. This is
a perfect way to prepare for the new school year. Have a wonderful
and safe summer and we’ll see you in the fall.
Sincerely,
The Seventh Grade Teachers
