Palisades
Cliffs on the western bank of  the Hudson River, in southeastern New York and northeastern New Jersey. The cliffs rise from near the river's edge up to heights of 550 feet.  They stretch from Jersey City, New Jersey, to Piermont, New York. The Palisades were formed by the slow cooling of molten rock 195 million years ago.
