The Metric System is a very easy system to learn.
It is very orderly.

Everything is based on the number 10.

We have ten fingers...

And we have ten toes...
Our model is wearing ten LUP's around her toesies!

And that really helps us count.

In fact, those ten fingers and ten toes really helped people count long ago.

And it was because of those ten fingers and ten toes that
our system of numbering and grouping by tens developed!

The metric system was created around 200 years ago in France.
The French people call it the International System -- or SI --
because they say things backwards in France.

So say good bye to our silly system of measuring.  It is time for a change.  In fact, you probably know some words already!

35-millimeter camera
16-millimeter movie camera
2-liter soda bottle

Whether you are measuring distance, weight, or  volume
the measurement words are all very much alike.  They all start with certain
prefixes:

KILO HECTO DEKA  METER DECI CENTI MILLI
LITER
GRAM
1000 100 10 1   .1 .01 .001

Can you remember this sentence??
KING
HENRY'S   DAUGHTER   DRANK   CHOCOLATE  MILK
If you can, then you  can learn the prefixes in order very easily!  Try it.
