In January and February, students in grades 1 and 2
participated in the STARS (Students That Are Rising Stars) Program.
The program is open to all students in those grades who enjoy
singing and dancing. Due to our large numbers and tight scheduling,
the performers only had 5 practices! (Grade 2 had only 4 practices
because of snow!) Evening performances were held on January 28th for
the 1st grade and March 4 for the 2nd grade.
Students and parents enjoyed the lively current and classic tunes as
well as the dancing. During the second grade dress rehearsal, second
grade spectators were literally dancing in the aisles as performers
did the Cha, Cha, Slide!
STARS is an outlet
for students to experience public performing; many teachers and
parents have commented that students who are normally quiet reserved
really shine and show a different side of themselves when on stage.
Anyone who attended the show could see how much hard work--and
talent--went into its production. Many thanks to the teachers, Mrs.
King, Mrs. Carbonaro, Mrs. Moraitis, and Mrs. Molnar (aka Mrs.
Stevens), and to the children, for putting on such a great
performance! |
