5-C and the Age of Exploration

Mrs. Cilvick's class is on the move--sailing that is. They have been studying the Age of Exploration--but with a twist. The class is simulating the everyday life of a sailor on a sailing ship back in the 1400's. In fact, as you can see, their desks have become their ships! Each student is a crew member with a specific job to do on his ship. The first task is to choose which country should--or was willing to--charter their trip. Keeping track of food and water supplies is a major undertaking, too. Just ask the fifth graders what it is like!
